How Fantasy Football Credits and Points Work

How Fantasy Football Credits and Points Work

Meta Title: How Fantasy Football Credits and Points Work Meta Description: A simple explanation of how player credits and fantasy points are calculated, and why football’s system lets you adjust the AI’s numbers. Meta Keywords: fantasy football credits, fantasy football points, fantasy football api, football scoring system

Every fantasy football app uses two numbers for each player: a credit value and a points value. Here’s what each one means, and how it’s calculated.

Credits

Before a match, every player gets a credit value. This is the “price” of that player. Better players cost more credits. Users build their fantasy squad by spending a fixed credit budget across their team.

This value is set by an AI model that looks at the player’s recent and past performance.

What makes this different: the AI’s number isn’t final. It can be changed by hand if needed, for example, if a team knows a player is returning from injury and the AI hasn’t caught that yet. When a credit value is changed, both numbers are kept, the AI’s original value and the new one, so nothing is hidden.

Points

During a match, every player earns fantasy points based on what they actually do: scoring a goal, making an assist, completing passes, taking shots on target, keeping a clean sheet, making saves, winning tackles. Points are also lost for things like red cards, yellow cards, own goals, and missed penalties.

Unlike credits, points are not set by AI. They come from a fixed set of rules that are the same for every match. This means you can always show a user exactly why they got the points they got.

The Three Things Behind This

Fantasy Credit Points API gives you the AI-calculated credit value for each player.

Fantasy Match Points API gives you each player’s live points as the match happens.

Fantasy Credit Variation API shows you both the AI’s original credit value and any value that was manually changed.

Over 90% of fantasy football apps on the market today are built using this same system, according to a Times of India feature on Roanuz Sports.

Getting Started

Fantasy apps that need both AI pricing and manual control Media and news sites adding fantasy scoring to their football coverage Any platform that needs to track when and why a credit value changed

Common Questions

Do I have to use the AI’s credit value as-is? No. You can change it manually, and the system keeps a record of both the original AI value and the new one.

Are fantasy points calculated by AI? No. Points come from a fixed set of scoring rules based on what happens in the match, not a model’s judgment.

What’s the actual difference between credits and points? Credits decide what a player costs before the match and can be adjusted. Points are earned during the match based on performance and follow fixed rules.
